It has been a fairly frequent experience throughout history for humans to encounter a Numinous, Other Worldly Something that cannot be explained, but in attempting to explain it, they have called it “God” which is a euphemism for “That which cannot be said, told, taught, explained.” And anything they say about their experience says absolutely nothing about what they experienced and says everything about how they thought about the experience. They describe their reaction to the experience but say nothing about the experience itself. Yet the words they use to describe the experience are taken to be words that WERE what was experienced. So that God becomes associated with all the words that have been said about the experience of God, when, in fact, the experience cannot be the thing experienced, but remains an expression of the impact the experience had upon the person or persons who had the experience. The words about the experience express the meaning of the experience, the interpretation of the experience, for those having the experience.
The words about the experience are all PROJECTIONS of the people who had the experience upon the experience and say nothing whatsoever of that which was experienced.
So throw away the Bible and all the theology that ever has been. It is all a collection of projections of that which is projected/imagined/said/told to be GOD. And that which was experienced is unknown, unsaid, untold. As Lao Tzu said about the Tao, “The Tao that can be told is not the eternal Tao.” So it is with the God that can be told. That God is not the eternal God.
