Arthritic Knees aren’t much of a handicap.
Once I gave up steps, stairs, sand and long distance Air and Auto travel, there is nothing to it. I just don’t go to the mountains or the beach, which I do not miss at all because I did quite a bit with both before my knees went out and my crutches came in.
My handicap mirror hanger helps with parking, and my age is as much of a handicap as my knees are, but that works to my advantage in that I no longer have the energy or the desire to go to far away places and do strenuous things.
I am folding quite nicely into my life as it needs to be lived, and haven’t lost anything I don’t mind being rid of. I have no idea of what the future holds but I am quite confident in my ability to handle well whatever comes up. Which the Buddha should have thought of as the end to suffering. Attitude is the solution to a lot of potential problems.
