The Truth should be free for all to perceive, serve and enjoy. Churches that monetize God are not being true to the Gospel. And the fact that I made my living for 40.5 years as a minister of that Gospel, in no way contradicts what I just said. I was glad to profit from my work in the church, like the workers were glad to be paid for their work in harvesting grapes and wheat. I was paid to speak the truth which I was glad to do. Now I am still speaking the truth and I am not being paid to do so. I do so freely as though to repay now what I was paid then. Whether that evens the scale, or how I would go about evening the scale, I do not know. That was then, this is now, and I am not now or in the future going to monetize this blog. I am just going to write the truth as I know it to be and let that be that.
The truth is that God is an experience, and the experience of that which has always been called God is the fact, and God is just the experience. And people will do with that experience what they will. However, doctrine, dogma, manifestos, creeds, etc. are human ways of saying what God is, and as Lao Tzu observed 500 years or so before Jesus was born, “The Tao that can be told/said/taught is not the eternal Tao,” so the God that can be told/said/taught. And to try is presumption, false and wrong.
So I am exploring what our response to the experience of God needs to be and I think that falls into the categories of Truth, Justice, Compassion, Equality, Liberty, without trying to nail God down, pen God in and say who God is, after Jesus’ statement, “The spirit is like the wind that blows where it will.” And no one can lock the wind into a Book of Doctrine.
