There is only one thing to do:
Sit down and be quiet.
Seek the inner source
of purpose and direction.
And wait for the impulse
of our original nature
to call us forth
to an adventure
worthy of us.
How long will that take?
Longer than we would like,
but not as long
as we are afraid it will be.
And it will be well worth the wait.
Our wants/desires are preferences:
Vanilla or chocolate?
Our musts are our guide.
What MUST we do?
Without reasons,
without explanations,
without justifications,
or comprehension?
Only because we KNOW it must be done?
How do we know?
It doesn’t matter.
THAT we know is the only thing that matters.
“It’s the priate’s life for me, Gibbs.
I have no say in the matter!
Savvy?”
(Captain Jack Sparrow in
“Pirates of the Caribbean”
Our wants and our way
are leading us by the nose
down roads we have no business traveling,
into places we have no business being,
into things we have no business doing.
What is our business?
What are we to be about?
Who are we?
Who knows who we are
and what is ours to do
if not us?
If not our Muses:
Tao, Psyche, Intuition?
It is time we sit still and be quiet
and wait for a visitation from our guides.
And listen to our body
by asking, “Yes?” or “No?”
To know what our body and our life
are trying to tell us.
How must we live until we die?
