I’m confident that I am correct in saying that my father was the worst and best thing that has happened to me. I am deliberately contrary to my father in every conceivable way. I grew up determined to be not who my father was, and am glad to be who I am.
I could give you scenes from my life to support my contentions but I going to save myself from having to relive the memories. The thing that stands out for me as the worst of the worst is being denied the power of “NO!” until I was close to being on my own. I could say no to other people, but not in our home, and I would like to have a replay that provided me with that honor.
