Blessings Are Momentary

A blessing is a temporary realization of awe and wonder, like a sunset or a thunder storm, a baby’s birth but not a baby’s death. Not a baby’s deformity. A blessing is an interpretation of the moment at hand, an expression of the impact of here, now upon us as we pass through it to the next, and the one after that, a temporal expression of a favorable experience of existence. Not typically applied to a diagnosis of leukemia or a flat tire.
