Is the most important thing, and needs to be applied to everything. It is a Taoist term meaning “effortless action.” “Accomplishing/achieving thing without forcing anything.” And it applies across the board, around the world to every aspect of our life. Particularly to wanting/caring/desiring, having to have… It is a phrase that reminds us of the essential nature of knowing when and where to draw the line.
Frasier Snowden said, “The only true philosophical question is, ‘Where do you draw the line?’” I would add that it is the only thing worth knowing. Knowing where to draw the line is the solution to all of our problems today, any day. Particularly, if we draw it.
And no one can tell us where we should draw the line. There are no guide books in the matter. No recipes. No instruction videos. And we all know where we draw it. How do we know? Experience and realization, kid. Experience and realization.
It’s a tricky business, knowing where to draw the line. Crucial, essential and like the Tao that can be told (Not the eternal Tao). And mastering the art of knowing where to draw the line aligns us with the Tao through all of the dilemmas of life and being.
