When Jesus said, “Pray without ceasing,” and the Buddha said, “Peaceful abiding, here, now,” they were saying the same thing. To pray without ceasing is to peacefully abide, here, now.” Praying doesn’t have to do with saying anything, and has everything to do with who we are, here now. When we live prayerfully, we are praying without ceasing. When we live prayerfully, we are peacefully abiding, here, now.
We are here, now with nothing at stake here, now. Wanting nothing, desiring nothing, knowing and doing what is called for here, now, where, when and how it is called for. Doing the right thing, in the right way, at the right time, in the right place, and going on to the next thing, to do what is called for here, now, peacefully abiding, praying without ceasing from one thing to the next. Just like the Buddha and Jesus did it throughout their lives.
They lived with an attitude, a perspective, a frame of mind that allowed them to perceive what the situation called for and do what the situation needed to be done in each situation as it arose all their life long.
Which is all it takes. All that matters.
