What Carries Us Through?

When we come upon a crisis, hit the wall, lose our sense of balance and our reason for living, what carries us through? What do we fall back on? Where do we turn when we have nowhere to turn? When it comes down to, “Here we are, now what?” What’s the what now?

I fall back on emptiness, stillness, silence. The solid ground under my feet is my absolute stone cold conviction that we are born with everything we need to find what we need to do what needs to be done. And we find what we need by dropping into the silence and waiting for the mud to settle and the water to clear, so that we know what’s what and what’s happening and what is called for here, now, and see what needs to be done about that in order to stand up and step out of the silence (Though we never ever leave the silence once we learn to trust ourselves to it, but are always only a finger snap away from trusting ourselves to Tao, Psyche, Intuition to come to our aid in helping us see what needs to be done and to do it when, where and how it needs to be done, doing the right thing in the right way at the right time in the right place and letting that be that. As Lao Tzu said in the Tao Te Ching, “Do your work and let nature take its course.” (With, “And then do your work some more and let nature take its course some more,” implied.

That’s all there is to it. Always and forever. If we don’t like that, there is no problem. We don’t have to like it. We only have to do it, the way it needs to be done. Always and forever.
