Deepening, expanding, enlarging our companionship with Psyche is not taught in church or school, or anywhere else in my experience.
If Psyche is talked about anywhere it is in a context of how we might use Psyche to our advantage. That is the end of any possible companionship.
Another hindrance in the matter of being best Buds with Psyche
is that Psyche is not verbal.
We do not talk it over, make our plans together and chat happily
back and forth through the day.
Psyche depends on communing with us through dreams, nudges, hunches, ideas...
and through a sense of rhythm and flow throughout the day. With "felt senses" in our body/mind, urges and urgencies
that we do not understand and too often dismiss, discount, ignore.
To know Psyche, we have to cultivate a yen for silence, emptiness, stillness, and "drop into it" from time to time throughout each day, tuning in, turning on, dropping in, gives Psyche time and attention--and gives us an opportunity to be mindfully aware of the possibility of a drift toward some things and away from other things.
This is Psyche guiding our boat on its path through the sea.
We KNOW yes and no when we sense it, automatically, spontaneously,
not intellectually, but somatically. Psyche is a body-sense of direction,
enabled when we stop and listen/feel what's what and trust ourselves to it,
no matter what it may mean for us personally.
We begin to read our body's sense of circumstances and situations,
and trust what we feel more than what we think.
We step into the world of Obi-wan Kenobi, allowing "the force to be with us" by being with the force--intuitively, instinctively--moment by moment, day by day.
And suddenly, inexplicably, we become lucky, just like that (snaps fingers). We cannot use the force to get anything we want, but a side-benefit is being lucky in ways we cannot manipulate or control.
And it is cognitive encouragement when we recognize it and smile, knowing we are not alone, on our own, but well within the scope of Psyche's attentive presence, sensing guidance and following where we are being led, with no idea of where we are going or how we are going to get there.
I do not direct my life, but I am constantly aware of being directed, led, guided. And I nurture that by spending time in emptiness, stillness and silence, and by consciously creating the possibility of trance states by looking out the window, listening to my kind of music, and writing whatever comes to mind seeing where that leads/goes, taking me with it. Psyche's child all the way.
