At one with the Tao is doing what is called for here, now. How we know what is called for is a matter of paying attention to what is happening and the way our body is responding to our environment. Our action is called for by our situation and circumstances–it is not directed by our desire or willed into being by our determination to have our way no matter what. No forcing! No compelling! No swimming against the current or insisting on what we want to happen! We comply with the needs of the moment. If the baby’s diaper needs to be changed, we change the baby’s diaper. If the cat needs to be fed, we feed the cat. If nothing is clear, we sit quietly and wait for clarity. And wait to see how we might be of help in the circumstances as they unfold around us. We take our cue for action from the time and place of our living, and let that be that.
