A well-lived life is a life that does what needs to be done, when, where and how it needs to be done in each situation as it arises day after day, the entire life long.
This is the Taoist idea of doing the right thing, in the right way, at the right time, in the right place no matter what.
In order to know the what, where, when and how, we have to take wanting out of the driver’s seat. Wanting cannot be allowed to impose itself in each here, now as the Most Important Thing.
Balance and harmony, rhythm and flow, synchronization, and spontaneity in response to what is called for here, now, override wanting, desiring, having to have.
And knowing what time it is, is not as important as knowing what it is time for.
All of which comes to light in the silence, stillness and emptiness waiting for the mud to settle and the water to clear.
