We only have to wait for the next thing to come along and compel us into its service. Something is always coming along to conscript us and require things of us. Our life is in the hands of, at the mercy of, the next thing. Our only responsibility is doing what needs to be done next, where, when and how it needs to be done. When seen in this light, our life is a snap, only asking for our cooperation to unfold before us as if scripted just for us. It helps to have no interest in the outcomes and simply give ourselves to the service of what is called for here, now, all our life long. This is so simple a child with the right attitude could do it every day all day long.
